Green Plantain 5 kilos (Ecuador)

Quick rules

1. Be available on your selected delivery date and time. Delivery times are requests and may change due to carrier delays, weather, traffic, address issues or other circumstances.
2. Green plantains are delivered green. If you need ripe plantains, please order a ripe product instead.
3. Green and ripe plantains are processed and shipped separately because they are handled at different facilities.

When your box arrives

1. Open the box immediately and check each plantain on the same day.
2. Do not leave the box closed for a long time.
3. Remove and safely dispose of the ethylene sachet. Do not consume it.
4. We recommend consuming green plantains within 7 days of the displayed delivery date.

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry and dark place away from direct sunlight and heat.
• Recommended storage temperature: 10–15°C.
• During warmer and more humid months, around June–September, green plantains may ripen faster.
• During cooler and drier months, around October–May, green plantains may ripen more slowly and may not ripen naturally at normal room temperature.
• Avoid excessive cold temperatures. Very cold conditions can cause the peel to darken and the fruit to deteriorate.
• Do not store green plantains for several weeks. Long storage can cause hard skin, darkening and difficult peeling.
• Home ripening depends on temperature, humidity and other home conditions. Home ripening results are not guaranteed.

Natural variation

• Plantain size and the number of pieces vary naturally by season.
• Boxes are sold by weight, not by a fixed number of plantains.
• In colder and drier conditions, plantains may naturally lose a small amount of moisture after packing.
• Minor cosmetic marks such as scuffs, latex stains and peel marks are normal and are not considered defects.

Dispatch and delivery timing

1. Your box normally leaves the warehouse before the displayed delivery date. Same-day dispatch is not available.
2. Some regions require additional delivery time because of air connections, ferry connections, weather or other carrier conditions.
3. Delivery dates and time slots are requests and may be affected by circumstances outside our control.

If you miss delivery

1. Check your mailbox for the missed-delivery notice. Yamato Kuroneko normally uses a yellow notice and Japan Post normally uses a red notice.
2. Request re-delivery as soon as possible because plantains are fresh produce.
3. If you need assistance, contact us and provide your tracking number.
4. If the box is held by the carrier for too long or returned to us, we may not be able to send a replacement.
5. Returned orders may result in temporary delivery suspension. Cash on delivery may also be removed and future orders may require credit card payment.

Payment and address restrictions

• Payment options include cash on delivery (COD), online credit card payment and, for Yamato deliveries only, credit card payment at the door when available.
• We cannot deliver to U.S. military bases, installations or other restricted-access addresses.
• If COD payment is not collected because of a carrier error, payment may be required by credit card or bank transfer before future deliveries resume.

Claims policy — 48-hour rule

1. Contact us within 48 hours of the displayed delivery date.
2. Please provide a photo of the shipping label, the outside of the box, the inside of the box and clear photos of all affected plantains.
3. Keep the product and packaging until we reply because additional verification may be required.
4. Claims are not covered when the issue is caused by late receipt, missed delivery, customer storage conditions, ordering the wrong product, home ripening results or a claim made after 48 hours.
